Welcome. My name is Carl Hayek and I have the distinct privilege to serve as the district’s business manager. Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke of optimism stating: “The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.” Let us not doubt this district's accomplishment of short term fiscal stability as many districts throughout the state are not as secure financially as River Valley School District. As the community has made a commitment to the district, so to does the district make a commitment to the community.
As evidence of fulfilling this commitment, the district annually achieves 100% graduation rates, continues to upgrade its maintenance repair and facility needs safeguarding taxpayer investment in infrastructure, and continually looks at ways to reduce expenditures, such as changing the health insurance provider for the district.
I believe education begins with all of us, but where does it end? In reality it is endless. In the words of Anon: “Our children are the message we send to a time we will never see.” We give our children the formal education, but hopefully we are also giving the gift of wisdom that life is about learning – learning about ourselves and the world around us, continually expanding our hearts and minds. For a life of learning is never without purpose.
