Anderson opened the meeting. He noted that the meeting had been properly noticed and notice had been provided to the appropriate media and each School Board Member. Pitts moved to proceed with the legal meeting. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Board Training
Opportunities
Nelson stated that the WASB
Convention will be held in January. Peter Pitts, Board delegate, is the only
one considering attending at this time. Nelson attended a Legislative Issues
Conference in Wausau in November. A representative from the Education Task
Force spoke at the conference and noted that the task force hopes to complete
its work by May 2004.
Student Council Report
Kaukl noted that although neither of
the Boards student council representatives could be present, Student Council
President, Jessica Thering, was present to observe tonights meeting. Kaukl
stated that voluntary student forums have been held to provide information to
students about the districts budget deficit and the upcoming referendum. The
student council held a fundraiser, Caps for Kids, where high school students
and staff could wear hats for one school day and pay $1.00 to be donated to
charity. Kaukl informed the Board that the High School Academic Awards will be
held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23.
Referendum Update and Public Information Sharing
Mahoney handed out a list of past and future
meeting dates since February 2003 where budget deficit and/or referendum issues
have been or will be discussed. There was no discussion.
Set Policy Committee
Meeting
A Policy Committee Meeting was set
for Monday, January 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office.
A Budget Committee Meeting was set for Thursday, January 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Central Office.
Discontinuation of HSED
Program Offering at River Valley (2004-05)
Kaukl announced that due to budget
constraints and low enrollments, MATC has announced plans to discontinue the
HSED program at the River Valley site beginning with the 2004-05 school year.
Update Related to
Possible Future Changes to SWAL I and SWAL II Athletic Conference Alignments
Kaukl noted that the WIAA is looking
at possible changes in athletic conference alignments due to size (enrollment)
discrepancies between some of the larger and smaller schools in the SWAL
conference.

Consideration & Action
on Resolutions Accepting Gifts
Limmex moved to adopt the Resolution
Accepting Gifts of the waiver of a $72 advertising fee by WRCO during
homecoming/school fair. Taylor seconded. Polled vote was 8-0 in the
affirmative with 1 absent. Motion carried.
Roske moved to adopt the Resolution Accepting Gifts of three computers valued at $300 each from BIT360 to use for the food service program. Caraway seconded. Polled vote was 8-0 in the affirmative with 1 absent. Motion carried.
