President Anderson opened the meeting. He noted that the meeting had been properly noticed and provided to the appropriate media and each School Board Member. Peach moved to proceed with the legal meeting. Pitts seconded. Motion carried.
"Time to Teach" Discipline System and "Climb-It" Program
Hoffman outlined the success of using the "Time to Teach" discipline program for the second year at the middle school and the positive effects other middle school initiatives have had on the climate at the middle school: parenting classes, Pledge of Respect, character education, anti-harassment program, peer mediation, conflict resolution, and AODA services.
Goals statements were added to more fully explain the target of each goal area listed.
A Policy Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the Central Office.
Benson noted that some individual community members have asked about the availability for students to purchase milk from vending machines. In addition to milk being offered at breakfast and lunch, our high school currently offers milk in one of the vending machines and milk is also offered in bottles as an ala carte item at lunch time. A more comprehensive food service report will be included at a future Board meeting.
Consideration & Action on First Reading of New and Revised Policies
Murphy moved to approve the first reading of Policy #743 Acceptable Use Of Networked Computers, Policy #743-Exhibit (1) - Privacy Statement for K12Planet.com, and Policy #743-Exhibit (2) - Consent Form for K12Planet.com. The revisions include language pertaining to the documents parents will be required to review and sign in order to participate in the new K12-Planet software program that allows parents to view student records from their home computers via Internet access. Pitts seconded. Motion carried.
The language inPolicy #423 - Public School Open Enrollment and Policy #423Rule - Public School Open Enrollment states that the policy shall be reviewed annually on or before the February regular Board meeting. There are no revisions. Caraway moved to keep the policy as is. Murphy seconded. Motion carried.
Consideration & Action to Adjourn to Closed Session Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85 and 111.70 to discuss 2001-2003 RVEA Collective Bargaining and 19.85(1)(c) for consideration and action on resolution considering non-renewal of teacher contract and to discuss administrator contracts
Limmex moved to adjourn to closed session at 8:25 p.m. pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 19.85 and 111.70 to discuss 2001-2003 RVEA Collective Bargaining and 19.85(1)(c) for consideration and action on resolution considering non-renewal of teacher contract and to discuss administrator contracts. Pitts seconded. Polled vote was 7-0 in the affirmative with 2 absent. Motion carried.
