President Anderson opened the meeting. He noted that the meeting had been properly noticed and provided to the appropriate media and each School Board Member. Peach moved to proceed with the legal meeting. Roske seconded. Motion carried.

Public Hearing on 2001-02 School Year Start Date
Benson noted that the school year start date for 2001-02 (August 23 for students) has been established through negotiations between the Board and RVEA. However, state law requires this public hearing to be held in order for the district to start school before September 1. There were no comments from the public. Hearing closed.

Consent Agenda: Checks, Invoices, Receipts from June 2001; Open Session Meeting Minutes: May 24, June 7, and June 14, 2001
Peach moved to approve the consent agenda items as submitted. Caraway seconded. Motion carried.

Consideration & Action on Budget/Maintenance/Transportation Committee Recommendations
Mahoney noted that we are in the fifth year of a five-year transportation contract with Verona Bus. We need to decide if we will bid out transportation services or renegotiate with Verona Bus. Limmex moved to extend the current contract with Verona Bus by one year. Pronold seconded. Nelson abstained from voting. Motion carried.

Limmex moved to approve an increase in pay for substitute teachers to $85 per day and $95 per day after 20 days. Peach seconded. Motion carried.

Consideration & Action on High School Principal Hiring
Pronold moved to hire Kim Kaukl as the high school principal with a $71,000 salary and $1,000 for moving expenses. Peach seconded. Motion carried.

Consideration & Action on 2001-02 School Year Start Date Resolution
Roske moved to adopt the 2001-02 School Year Start Date Resolution, which includes an August 23, 2001, start date for students. Limmex seconded. Polled vote was 7-0 in the affirmative with 2 absent. Motion carried.

Consideration & Action to Adjourn to Closed Session Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85 and 111.70 to discuss 2001-2003 RVEA Collective Bargaining Update
Peach moved to adjourn to closed session at 8:30 p.m. pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85 and 111.70 to discuss 2001-03 RVEA Collective Bargaining Update. Roske seconded. Polled vote was 7-0 in the affirmative with 2 absent.
