President Caraway opened the meeting. He noted that the meeting had been properly noticed and notice had been provided to the appropriate media and each School Board Member. Roske moved to proceed with the legal meeting. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Legislative Update
Taylor reported that Wisconsin
students average ACT test score is the second highest in the nation. Also
noted was that Wisconsins net property tax increase in 2005-06 was the smallest
increase in nearly a decade at 2.3 percent.
Board Training
Opportunities
Nelson noted that there is a Region 10
meeting on September 28 in Baraboo. Taylor will be attending. A personnel
management seminar and school law seminar are forthcoming through WASB.
Set Policy Committee
Meeting Date
A Policy Committee meeting was set
for Thursday, November 9, at 6:30 p.m. prior to the regular Board meeting.
Set Initial Meeting Date
for 2007-09 RVEA and RVEST Negotiations
A meeting has been scheduled for
October 25 at 5:00 p.m. for the Board, RVEA, and RVEST Negotiations Committees
to meet with M3, and outside insurance consultant.
District Goals Initial
Planning
Board policy calls for district goals
planning beginning in October. Benson
reported that along with our theme for 2006-07, Creativity and Innovation, the
district has two related goals that will bring additional focus to our district
wide work throughout the year: create new and different learning opportunities
for all students and staff; and examine instructional methods and resources to
increase innovation in how we teach student Reading/Literacy Skills (K-12).

Consideration & Action on Teacher Hirings
Pitts moved to approve the hiring of Matt
Bredeson as the Activities Director and half time High School Phy. Ed. Teacher.
Cates seconded. Motion carried.
Pronold moved to approve the hiring of Theresa Brown as the Middle School Guidance Counselor. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Peach moved to adjourn at 9:14 p.m. Roske seconded. Motion carried.
