President Caraway opened the meeting. He noted that the meeting had been properly noticed and notice had been provided to the appropriate media and each School Board Member. Cates moved to proceed with the legal meeting. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Legislative Update
Taylor noted that a recent legislative
lobby day showed confidence in the two sides working together in bipartisanship
between Democrats and Republicans.

Nelson noted an upcoming Board
Presidents seminar.
School District Health
Services Report
School Nurse Marcia Creasey provided
an annual report of school district health services provided in 2006-07.
PLATO Course Software
Program Demonstration
High School Alternative Ed. Teacher,
Kathy Peetz, provided an on-line demonstration of the PLATO software program
used by students in the alternative education program as an independent,
reinforcement learning tool.

A Policy Committee meeting was set for
6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9.

Meeting
A Budget Committee meeting was set for
4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16.
Public Comments/Open
Forum
Crowley asked if our district applied
for a FLAT grant for foreign language. Kaukl responded that we had not.
Crowley also asked what the district mascot of “Blackhawk” represented. The
response was “a bird” and that it has never been a reference to Native
Americans.

Ferguson moved to accept the consent
agenda items as submitted. Peach seconded. Motion carried. Motion carried.

Teacher Hiring
Cummings moved to approve the hiring
of Kyle Heckendorf as a one-year long term substitute 6th grade LD
teacher. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.

Resolutions Accepting Teacher Resignations
Cates moved to adopt the Resolution
Accepting Teacher Resignation of Katy Connors, High School Guidance Counselor.
Cummings seconded. Polled vote was 8-0 in the affirmative with 1 absent.

Crowley moved to adjourn to closed
