TITLE: Odyssey of the Mind/Destination Imagination Coordinator
SUPERVISOR: Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and administration. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
GOALS FOR PROGRAM: Promote creativity, innovation, problem solving skills, confidence, collaboration, and presentation skills as part of the school programs provided for our students and staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities are to serve as Odyssey of the Mind (O.M.) or Destination Imagination (D.I.) coordinator to include the following:
1. Explore and/or examine the differences between (O.M.) and (D.I.) programs.
Make a recommendation to the district administrator as to which program (O.M. or D.I.) our students will participate for the 2006 07 school year.
This recommendation will be based on a comparison of the overall quality of the O.M. and D.I. programs, timelines associated with implementation of the programs, locations of regional competitions, available resources, overall benefit to students, etc.
2. Attend all necessary coordinator/contact person meetings.
3. Renew/Send in all necessary application materials with fees.
4. Organize parent/student night, explain the program, and get others excited about the program.
5. Copy and distribute all necessary flyers, workshop information, team registration forms, etc. for your team managers. Team managers also need copies of all guides and the rulebook.
6. Help your teams locate all program materials.
7. Register your team managers for training sessions.
8. Register all teams for regional competitions.
9. Recruit one enthusiastic, positive, kid-friendly adult per team to be a support person.
10. Sign up your teams for any/all practice sessions and/or related challenge round matches.
11. Uphold rules.
12. Schedule, coordinate and inform participants of all schedules for team meetings, parent/support meetings, team practices, regional competitions, etc.
13. Alert students and parents of this new program through local newspaper articles, newsletters, e-mail, etc.
14. Encourage creativity and innovation.
