The Board of Education recognizes the unique perspective held by students on issues impacting the District. Therefore, the Board shall welcome one student representative (and one alternate) to the Board. The student shall represent the views of students enrolled in the district on agenda items discussed at Board meetings.
The student representative (or alternate in the absence of the designated representative) shall:
1. Attend Board meetings and sit at the Board table and be free to enter into discussion or answer questions in the same manner as elected Board members.
2. Represent all students in the District and communicate with student councils at all buildings and levels--not just the high school.
3. Be a junior or senior student council member at the high school.
4. Be selected by the River Valley High School Student Council.
5. Serve for one year.
6. Not be able to vote on any issues before the Board.
7. Be excluded from executive sessions of the Board.
