A plan of action for emergency nursing services, including first aid services, will be provided by the River Valley School District and will be available during the school day and at all school-sponsored activities in accordance with state law. The school nurse will supervise the emergency nursing services, and arrangements shall be made with a physician to serve as medical advisor.
A designated health area will be available in each school which is equipped with the supplies necessary to provide emergency care in accordance with standards set by the Department of Public Instruction and the Department of Health and Family Services.
Procedures for dealing with accidental injury, illness, and medication shall be established and published annually in the staff handbook(s). These procedures shall be reviewed annually with the professional staff, including all athletic coaches.
A record system shall be maintained in the district, including accident reports and a log of services performed. Confidentiality standards shall be maintained in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Emergency nursing services shall be reviewed annually.
