The River Valley School District shall provide courteous, regular transportation services to all students residing two or more miles from their school of attendance. Students with exceptional educational needs, private school students and students residing in areas of unusual hazards shall also be transported in accordance with state statutes.
Transportation may be provided for students residing less than two miles from the school of attendance if the following conditions and provisions are in existence:
1. The student lives on a regularly scheduled route.
2. The bus is not, nor will be, overcrowded by the addition of the student(s) concerned.
3. No additional travel time is involved.
4. The bus does not have to travel on any private driveway or dead end road.
5. The district does not incur any additional expense due to the cost per mile.
Any approved transportation services under this policy may be discontinued by the district administrator in the event conditions such as weather, changes in bus loads, travel time, etc., shall affect the operation of the normal and regular bus routes.
