GRADE 5 SCIENCE

The fifth grade science curriculum is a comprehensive study that will enable the students to utilize scientific process skills, scientific methods, and inquiry to understand the world around them.

Fifth graders are asked to be able to classify living things, distinguish adaptations of plants and animals, explain fission and sexual reproduction, identify traits carried through genetics, summarize how living and nonliving things interact, group matter according to structure and properties, investigate changes made by motion and force, and explore the properties of energy.

Activities and experiments are used in the program, as well as strategies that show how science is connected in our everyday lives.
