Plain Elementary School
April, 2008

Happy Spring! The snow is almost gone but the ground is very wet and messy. Please continue to send boots, snow pants, etc. to school. We do wear them outside so the mud doesn’t travel to the classrooms. Better safe than sorry!

"Reading Takes You Places"

Our reading incentive program was very successful with nearly all students participating. Our school total was 32,360 minutes. A huge THANK YOU to parents for the encouragement and support throughout this program!

Book Sale

Thank you to those families that have donated books for the May Book Sale. We are still in need of many more books and will be collecting throughout the month of April.

Report Cards

The 3rd quarter ends on Tuesday, April 8th; report cards will be sent home on Friday, April 11th.

2008-2009 Kindergarten News

Parent Orientation for fall kindergarten students will be held at the High School Little Theater on Thursday, April 3rd at 7PM. Registration materials will be distributed and explained, appointments will be made for the April 21st Screening/Registration day, and school officials will share information regarding health, transportation, and other educational issues. Please plan to attend.

Registration/Screening will be Thursday, April 21st at Plain Elementary. Completed registration forms, birth certificate, and immunization records should be brought to your appointment. Your 2008-2009 kindergarten student must accompany you to this appointment, however, we ask that siblings do not attend.

Change of Plans?

Please provide a note or phone call when your child’s day plan changes:

Students not coming to school – Please send a note in advance or call school by 9 AM.

For End-of-Day Changes – Please send a note or call school by 2 PM.

Unless we are told differently from a parent, students will be sent home as indicated on the "end of day plan" information sheet provided by parents at the beginning of the school year.

Keep Collecting

We’re still collecting "Box Tops for Education" as well as milk caps and printer cartridges. These items are redeemed for cash to our PEP club account. Aluminum tabs are dropped off at McDonalds and goes toward funding Ronald McDonald Houses. Ronald McDonald Houses are a home-away-from-home for families who must travel outside their community to seek medical treatment for a child. Thanks for your help!
