Third through fifth grade students are presently completing their basketball unit activities.  Over the past six weeks students have been instructed in basic skill activity such as:  dribbling, passing, shooting, proper defensive positioning, offensive strategy and terminology used in game play.

Students are presently involved in skill drill activities to develop skills taught during unit activities.  They have also began skill testing activities to assess their individual skills. Third through fifth grade students were also treated to a basketball clinic staffed by athletes from   River Valley varsity basketball programs.  Everyone involved had a great time and learned some new skills to help develop their game.

In the following weeks our volleyball unit activities will begin.  Students will be involved learning basic skills such as passing, setting and serving.  Also, basic offensive and defensive strategies will be taught.  Plans are unfolding to once again involve student athletes from River Valley High School to help conduct a volleyball skills clinic once unit activities are under way.
