We will examine characterization and voice through the novel 
Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman.  In this story, an inner city
Cleveland neighborhood finds "common ground" by working
together in a community garden.  Thirteen people come together
from different backgrounds; by the end of the novel, they show
the power of community and the chain reaction that can occur
when just one person starts something positive.
