Fine Art refers to the aesthetics found in such things as drawings, painting, sculpture and other expressive media. Description: Advanced Ceramics is a continuation of the clay techniques introduced in Concepts in Form I. An emphasis on wheel throwing will include functional objects such as dinnerware, casseroles and other lidded forms as well as a full range of other vessels and forms. Hand built clay sculpture will also be employed.

Description: Advanced Media is a blocked studio course designed for the advanced art student to explore nontraditional as well as traditional art media. The independent structure of the class demands a high degree of personal commitment combined with an enthusiasm for the arts. Students will be given opportunity to work on approved projects that are independent in nature as well as respond to topics and themes developed and explored in class.
In the past, students in this class have worked in media such as advanced drawing, painting, mixed media, bookbinding, silk screening, printmaking, claymation, video production and multimedia production. Creative thinking and exploration of conceptual art are encouraged. This class is encouraged for students who want to advance the creative process while expanding their technical skills.

Description: This course is recommended as a basis for continued art study into high school. It provides a variety of experiences in both 2 and 3-D work as well as an introduction to the art elements and principles of design. Media's include pencil, pastel, pen and ink. Description: Students in Art and Technology will be introduced to video editing, production skills and electronic imaging. Film, video and broadcasting are looked at as a form of visual communication. Students will use a variety of equipment associated with digital editing. Students will employ both individual and team production methods. It will provide for creative and technical exploration of visual communication and image enhancement processes.

Description: The study of art throughout our history is perhaps humanities most universal language. Discovering Art History is a course in which students will learn to evaluate are in terms of its social and technical content, craftsmanship, and aesthetic properties including sensory perceptions, expressive qualities and formal principles. Students will discover the reasons why man has created art including utility, religion, and politics to pass on cultural traditions and to express a full range of emotions. The ability to critique a particular type of art and to be able to compare and contrast different styles and periods of art will also be emphasized. The course will cover art from the cave men up to contemporary styles. This course may be taught as a distance learning class.

Description: Drawing builds upon the technical skills introduced in art survey. This class includes studies in art history and appreciation as well as more advanced drawing materials and techniques. Description: Painting further studies the 2-D possibilities practiced in Art Survey, focusing on a variety of painting techniques. Experiments with a variety of media including tempera, watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel, pastels and colored pencil moves the class through both expressive and classical forms of painting.
