Time to Teach Discipline: Our school uses the Time to Teach Discipline program that promotes the following goals:
1. To provide a safe
and orderly environment for learning.
2. To help students cooperate with others.
3. To help students mange one's self.
4. To help students learn to respect rights and property of others.
Students are taught the expected behaviors and are held accountable for their actions. Your child will learn the term REFOCUS. This is when he/she has chosen not to follow expected behaviors, and when we have asked him/her to tell us how or what might have been a better way to act. When a child is asked to REFOCUS, he/she will be seated in a quiet area in the classroom and asked to think about their inappropriate behavior and asked to caome up with a positive alternative. Kindergartners will do this orally, while the teacher writes it for them. When a child has been asked to refocus 3 times in a one week period, they will receive a noon academy. During the academy, which is held during the noon recess, they will be expected to work in a designated area on school work missed, and will eat lunch by themselves in the lunch or desgnated classroom. Kindergartners will not participate in the noon academy until later in the year.
