4th Grade Promotion

 

4th to 5th Grade Promotion/Retention - Criteria

 

The Department of Public Instruction has required all public schools to evaluate each student's promotion from 4th grade to 5th grade.  The criteria established for advancement are successful completion of two of the following competencies:

  1. A score of "basic" or above on at least four (4) of the six (6) sections of the state WKCE exam.
  2. Passing final grades in all subject areas or maintains an overall GPA (grade point average) of 2.0/4.0.
  3. Recommendations of the Promotion/Retention Committee of school professionals which predicts success in 5th grade.
