Social Studies in 2nd grade includes a variety of topics. We start the year discussing rules and the need for them in families, school, and society. Our next topics are communities, natural resources, and wants and needs. Then we learn a little history of our country from the first Americans through the great immigration period of the 19th century. We learn about our national parks as well as historic places in our great country. We end the year with a study of geography concepts, terms, and map skills. No report card grades are given for Social Studies.
