| Art History |
The study of art throughout our history is perhaps humanities most universal language. Discovering Art History is a course in which students will learn to evaluate art in terms of its social and technical content, craftsmanship, and aesthetic properties including sensory perceptions, expressive qualities and formal principles. Students will discover the reasons why man has created art including utility, religion, politics, to pass on cultural traditions as well as to express a full range of emotions. The ability to critique a particular type of art and to be able to compare and contrast different styles of periods of art will also be emphasized. The course will cover art from the cave men up to contemporary styles.
