COURSE INFORMATION
| Textbook: Computer Applications and Keyboarding |

| Goals of the class: Students will be building higher speed and and better accuracy in your keyboarding skill. Students will learn more advanced features of word processing and additional computer operations and terminology. Students will learn desktop publishing and multimedia software. Students will use the computer as a research and communication tool. |
| Grading: At the end of each nine week period, students will receive a letter grade for Computers 5 on their report card. Grading will be based on the following: keyboarding technique (40%), speed/accuracy (25%), daily work/projects/tests (35%). The grading scale used will be: |

| Lab Clean Up: Students are expected to neatly return all books, keyboard cover ups, disks, and/or CD's to their correct location. Chairs are to be pushed in. Students should make sure to correctly log off of their computer before leaving. If each student leaves their work station neat, it will be neat for everyone else who enters the computer lab. Be proud of your room! |

| Typin's Cool Software: Available at no charge to students again this year will be the practice software that comes with our Typin's Cool Keyboarding program. The software will run on Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. I also have a MAC version for anyone with a Macintosh computer. If you are interested in having this software for use at home, please send a note to school with your child. State what computer platform (PC or MAC) you are using at home and that you would like your child to have a copy of the software sent home. Parents may also send an email message requesting a copy of this software. My email address is: lhoffman@rvschools.org. I will then send a copy of the software on disk with installation instructions. |
