EVERYDAY MATH

We are using the Everyday Math Series.   A few weeks into the program students will have exericises to be completed at home.   These short exercises are called Home Links. They should be returned to school the day after they are completed.

The following topics are taught at the first grade level in Everyday Math:

Algebra and Uses of Variables

Exploring Data and Chance using bar graphs, tables, and making predictions.

Geometry and Spatial Sense with 1, 2, and 3 dimensional figures.

Measures and Measurement in inches, centimeters, volume.

Numeration and Order in rote counting, estimation, number sense, fractions, numerical order, addition and subtraction.

Patterns, Functions, and Sequences in numbers.

Grids, Maps, Thermometers, Time
