Study Tips
Study!
There are very few assignments that will be graded.
Most of your grade will be determined on your ability to apply your knowledge (quizzes and tests).
If you know the material, hope for a C.  If you understand the material, hope for a B.
If you understand the material, can apply the material, and are naturally intelligent, hope for an A.
Quit your job!!!!!!
Unless you are the sole support for your family, you do not have to work.
If you are working, it is because you want to work.
If you are working, you need to set your grade expectations lower.
Remain a kid as long as possible.  Stay in extracurricular activities.  Quit your job!

Read the assignment!!!

1.  Read the section assigned before class.
You cannot read a science textbook as quickly as you would a novel.
Take your time.
Look at the pictures, and read the captions.
Study the sample problems (in blue).
Do the practice problems.
2.  Answer the section review questions. Do this first as if it were a quiz.  Do not search back through the section.  This will tell you how well you have read.  After you have done this, check your answers by using the section as your guide.
3.  There may be times when it would help to read the section again, after the lecture covering that material is given.
Study your notes!!!!!
Study every night! 1.   By studying your notes each night you will know better
whether or not you understand the material.
2.   You will also be able to add information to you notes that you
may not have had time to write down during class.
3.   By studying each night you will be able to determine if there
are any key points that you don't quite understand.
And ask question about that the next day.
A question a day keeps the failure away!!!
Form a study group!!!!
Everyone can benefit from this.
If you are forced to explain the things you know to others, it will become clearer for you.
After high school, this will be a valuable tool.  You just can't figure everything out by yourself.
Work with others and you will accomplish more.
Tests!!!!
The best way to study for a test is to study every night.
If you wait until the night before the test to study, you will not have a chance to ask questions about the material that you still don't understand.
Do your "final" studying two nights before the test.
1.  Study your notes to see what you don't know.
2.  Have a friend help you with the material you don't understand.
3.  Check the vocabulary words at the end of the chapter.
4.  Read the chapter summary.
Ask questions the day before the test.
