Kindergarten Discipline Policy

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to a new discipline program. Education is a team effort between parents, students and teachers. Each person is important and no one can succeed alone. The purpose of this note is to give you an overview of my new discipline plan and let you know how you can help.

Our school is using the Time to Teach Curriculum. This program teaches your child what behavior is acceptable and what behavior is not. We have been working on many Teach To’s during the year especially the first weeks of school. All the behaviors have been taught and have been reviewed through out the year. If a child decides not to follow the correct behavior he or she will be asked to refocus. In my room, students will refocus by taking down their smiley face.

Green is the color of the smiley face.  It should be your child’s goal to keep it up all day.  If your child kept his or her smiley face all day he or she will bring home a smiley face to show you.

Yellow is the color of the middle face.  If a student chooses not to follow the correct behavior he or she will have to remove his or her green smiley face and have a conference with the teacher.

Red is the color of the sad face.  If a student continues not to choose the correct behavior he or she will have to remove his or her yellow middle face and have another conference with the teacher.

If a red sad face is lost parents will be contacted.

Please take the time to ask your child what face they ended the day with and what they did to earn it.

Thank you, Mrs. Weiss
