Spelling |
| The form of spelling lists this year will be a little different than students have done other years. Students will not have a textbook. The textbook or workbook does not have enough writing experience for the student. Lists this year will start out with word patterns that are common to fourth graders. We will also add words to the list that are special to our units of study or special occasions. Some students may end up with alternate lists if they know how to spell all of the words on the list at the time of the pretest. |
| Students will take a pretest on the words on Monday. We work with the words during the week. Each week students will have to write sentences using the words. This helps develop vocabulary and writing skills. Sentences will have at least 8 words in them. The test on the words will be on Friday. Before the test each Friday, we review one last time. Please try to review words during the week. Penmanship will be practiced daily. I am most interested in good communication skills. When a student uses good penmanship and spelling, his/her work can be understood by everyone. Learning the meaning and spelling of a variety of words is important to good writing skills in all of the classes. | |
