Proper Dress and Shoes:  Students are expected to come to class prepared for activity.  Comfortable clothing is recommended and gym shoes are a necessity.  Shoes should have a non-marking sole, should not be a platform-type shoe, and need to have a back (no slip-ons are allowed).  If students do not come to class with shoes, there is a "shoe rental" available for students to borrow shoes for the class period, if a correct size is available.  The shoe rental is for students who occasionally forget their shoes.  If students are consistently forgetting their shoes, a letter will be sent home to remind parents of class days and proper shoe requirements.

Excused Absences from Class:  If a student has an injury that would affect their participation during class, they must provide a written note.  The note can be from a doctor, a parent, or the school nurse.  If a student does not provide a written note, they will be asked to participate.  If the student will be out of class for more than one week, a note from the child's doctor is required.  If a student will be out of class for 6 weeks or more, due to an injury, the student will receive an "M" (medical excuse) on his/her report card.  Generally, when a student is excused from class they will sit on the sideline and watch.

Grading Procedures:  Students will be graded on a variety of things.  Participation during class is a large part of the students grade, regardless of their ability.  Sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal behavior are other aspects of the grading scale.  Students coming to class prepared (proper dress and shoes) is also a portion of the grade.  Occasional skills tests, written tests, and other authentic tests will be done and used as a part of the grade.  Ability level is NOT what is being graded.

Behavior Protocols:  The following is a list of steps used for any student -
