The Wisconsin State Journal will be reviewed daily in class to encourage students to become more aware of events taking place in their state, nation and world.  The goal is that by being aware of issues in the world, the student will become more active and involved in their community, government and world around them - realizing that they can make a difference.  This concept will be further expanded upon with the Project Citizen project that the 8th Grade Civic's students will be involved with this year.

When students view CNN on TV and/or in conjunction with visiting the CNN Web site, students will be able to link the curriculum content to current events.  This will serve to enhance the students' knowledge and increase awareness of events as they unfold in the world today, as well as, connect these events to items from the past.  What the students' are learning in class is then linked to what's happening in the world.
