MS Visual C++ Express software

Students will be doing hands-on activities writing computer programs using MS Visual C++ Express software.   The software is free as a down-load from Microsoft Corporation.  Visual C++ Express was used by Microsoft to write many of their new programming software programs such as Visual Basic and Visual Java.  It is one of Microsoft's most powerful programming languages.

Students will be doing hands-on activities and lab work writing programs that run correctly on a computer.   Students will work with object oriented programming which has both objects and code.

Students will write programs to solve various programming problems.  Students will learn how to write and develop programs using the total Windows environment with pull down menus and mouse controls.  Students will write advanced programs using graphics, animation and code.

Students will learn how to write and control the complex and powerful code used in Visual C++ by writing many programs that utilize the power of this language.

Students will learn how to program buttons, textboxes, labels, timers, calendars and many other objects which are used in Visual C++ Express.

Students will be working with Microsoft's powerful .net system.

Students will use Educational board games to improve their logic and problem solving skills.

Students will learn the following computer principles and skills:

   1.    how to write programs using MS Visual C++ Express software
    2.    how to write program using objects such as buttons, textboxes, labels, etc.
    3.    how to control the solution explorer directory and the properties window
    4.    how to add complex objects to a program such as a timer, a calendar, graphics, etc.
    5.    how to use the long and complex written code of Visual C++ Express software
    6.    how to work with functions and automatic properties and code from objects
    7.    how to write long and powerful programs that use code, objects, animation and graphics
    8.    how to work with variables, math formulas, and constants
    9.    how to write loops and conditions in a program
  10.    how to utilize the Windows environment with pull-down menus and objects to click on for all programs
  11.    how to use if then and select case statements in a program
  12.    how to use the Alice 3D animation software, which is free from Carnege Mellon University
  13.    how to write animation programs with sound and color using Alice 3D program
