Graphics Technology Class        

0.5 credits         1 semester         18 weeks

 

 

Students are doing hands-on activities and lab work to design and print graphic projects such as brochures, logos, posters, packaging graphics, letterheads, calendars, newsletters, advertising, etc.

 

Students will learn the 3 basic rules to Good Design:

    1.    Attract the reader's attention.

    2.    Be easy to read and understand.

    3.    Have a lasting effect on the reader.

Students will learn about the graphics and publishing industry.  These are very large industries when you think of all the printed and published items in the world today such as magazines, newspapers, greeting cards, wedding and graduation materials, books, packaging containers ( as in a grocery store ), the material on the internet, etc. etc.  All of these printed materials require words and pictures which must be designed and published by graphic companies.

Students will be designing and printing posters.

 

 

Students will learn how to use technology to design and produce finished projects.  Students will use computers, the internet, MS publisher and paint programs to design and print a finished product.  Students will do 75% of their work at a computer and 25% of their work on paper.

 

Students will use a computer and LogoDesign software to create Logo designs.

 

 

 

Students will learn the following basic principles and skills.

1.    designing and drawing graphic images
2.    sketching
3.    MS Publisher software
4.    internet
5.    design projects -  brochures, posters, logos, greeting cards, etc.
6.    page layout and design
7.    color
8.    design
9.    history of graphics
10.  paint programs - software
11.  printing and publishing
12.  Inventor 11 3D software program
