Objectives:

To obtain knowledge about a specific canine breed.

Student Responsibilities:

Choose a breed of canine to research in depth for this project. Once you have chosen a breed, inform Mrs. Graffunder of your selection. The choices will be selected on a first come first serve basis. There will be no duplication of canine breed choices.

Research the following about your chosen canine breed.

  4. Development – ancestors, breeding lines, etc.
Standard of Breed - Showing Characteristics
  1. General Appearance
  2. Size, proportion, and substance
  3. Head
  4. Neck, Topline, and Body
  5. Forequarters
  6. Hindquarters
  7. Coat
  8. Coloring
  9. Gait
  10. Temperament
  11. Faults
  12. Approval and Effective date of above status
Breed Characteristics
  1. Average litter size
  2. Breed defects
  3. Trainability
  4. Desirable traits – traits one would find appealing for this animal breed – reacts to children, space requirements, protection factors, and care factors (kids/adults).
  5. Personality traits – traits one would describe the animal – energetic, hyper, friendly, feisty, and temperament.

  2. Performance scores
  3. Performance awards
  4. Pictures of animals

Transfer researched information into a web design page storyboard that will advertise your purebred canine kennel company. Your storyboard must include the following information on separate pieces of 8 1/2 by 11 inches. The storyboard must be complete with all information typed out and designs implemented on it prior to the due date.

You must get your storyboard approved by Mrs. Graffunder by the following date Wednesday, April 9, 2003.

Attend a computer training session for Front Page Design. Have Mrs. Schneider initial paper after training is complete on Monday, April 14, 2003.

Design web page according to created storyboard. Project must be completed by Thursday, April 17, 2003.

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED.

Projects will be displayed in class for self, peer, and teacher assessment. The project viewing days will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday for the week of April 21, 2003.
